New Project – East Beach Tee

So turns out I’m not making a poncho. πŸ™‚ Since I didn’t find many poncho (or swoncho) designs for the two colors of yarn that I want to use next, and I’m still not in a design-friendly state of mind, I thought the East Beach Tee by Meghan Kelly would work best as my next project.

The dolman sleeves of the tee match the comfort factor that I had in mind when considering a poncho; and I could use my contrasting color yarn for one of the stripes in the tee.

I swatched and proceeded with one of the sizes from the pattern, and reached the first decorative section. Some weighing and calculations proved that my niggling worry about the yarn quantity was right – I would be cutting it too close for the project! And whoever looks forward to playing yarn chicken? Not me!

So I frogged the project, and have now restarted it using larger needles, a looser gauge, and a smaller size from the pattern. I think it should work with this. Wish me luck! πŸ™‚

  1. Fingers crossed!
I love that pattern, I’ve been considering knitting it too, but my knitting queue is already way too long, so I can enjoy it vicariously through your blog πŸ˜‰

    1. It’s a lovely pattern, as is the Kalaloch pullover (which also I considered for this project), and I wonder why I didn’t notice these a long time ago…
Hope my knit provides sufficient enjoyment to you. πŸ™‚ It’s going to be a bit delayed though – I haven’t made further progress on it due to a fever. (Still on the road to recovery.)

  2. I love those colors! It is always exciting moments of starting new projects, switching the needle size and recounting the stitches are part of fun as well πŸ˜ƒπŸ’«
