My Kashmiri Shawl is coming along well. I knit a couple more repeats of the first pattern than I’d originally planned – my row gauge had turned out to be a bit off – and now I’ve made about half a repeat of the second pattern.
I’ve not figured out the new pattern yet, and I find that I double-check my stitches a lot, and look up the pattern every RS row. I hope I get used to it soon, and knit without referring to the chart, because it’s no fun pausing the book that I listen to while I try to understand the current row – too many interruptions. π
I know I have miles to go before I’m done, but I just can’t wait to block this shawl! The yarn isn’t a stretchy one so the difference won’t be drastic, but I think there will still be some difference.
So that’s my short update. Since I have other projects to work on in the weekend, I won’t be able to knit much, so today is as good a time as any to write about the project. π Hope your projects are keeping you busy and entertained!
Oh, the pains of having to consult the chart too much, while you just want to relax and do some uninterrupted knitting and listen to an audiobook or watch a movie! Hopefully, as you progress through the project, your hands will remember the pattern themselves without the need to engage the brain too much π
Looking forward to seeing the finished shawl, I just know it’s going to be stunning!

Thank you, Kat! It barely feels like I learned the first pattern, when in jumps a new one! π This second pattern will be knit on both sides of the first, so once I get the pattern, it’ll be a whole lot of uninterrupted knitting and listening! Looking forward to that stage of the project. π

Beautiful, Anita. This is going to be so gorgeous when you finish. I can’t wait to see it. The patterns are so pretty. I do like mindless knitting, but there is something even more exciting about patterns, even if you have to keep looking at the pattern π

Definitely, Ginny! It’s even more fun when you get used to the pattern, and I think I’m slowly getting there now. Uninterrupted knit+read entertainment, here I come. π

The pattern of your shawl is just beautiful! It will be an elegant finish with these lovely lace pattern. I am working on the new lace pattern which I have to stop watching a film quite few times to check the pattern at each other round, I know how you feel xx
